Hello, everyone! I am so glad we've had some amazing weather! Mr. Farrell and I took advantage of it this weekend and got some much needed yard work done. Well, Mr. Farrell worked in the yard while I took care of the babies. But when they napped, I was able to help! We were also able to get them outside, too! We opened up the back of the van in the garage and did tummy time in there. It was super fun and got them used to being outside. Copper also enjoyed a nap or too in the van while we were spreading mulch. I hope you were able to enjoy the weather and do something fun together as a family!
This week's challenge: bake or cook something and tell us about it! I posted an activity on Seesaw (thank you for responding- everything looks so yummy) for you to be able to post a picture, video, or other media to tell us about your recipe! We will discuss more tomorrow during our class meeting. Class Meetings: We will be doing a class meeting every Monday at 12pm. I will send the Google meet link to parents on Mondays before the meet via email. You can join by web, phone (or tablet) app, or phone. Please follow these norms for the meets:
Remote Learning Update: Wake County announced last week that all schools would be operating on a traditional schedule for the rest of the school year. It will look like this: Remote Learning Calendar 2020. Because of this change, this week is "spring break" and instruction will start next week. Next week, I will be adding assignments to Google Classroom. There will be a math unit, a Module (ELA) unit, a science unit, and a social studies unit along with a schedule of when to work on the different tasks. For math, we will start with fractions (which is what we were doing right before we left). For Module, we will be starting Module 4 - Water Around the World. For social studies, we will focus on geography. For science, we will focus on land and water features. **I will also be adding a "Home Learning" tab to this website that may help answer questions you have about logging in, etc. Important: This week I need everyone to make sure they are able to login to their WakeID so they can get into Google Classroom, Dreambox, and BrainPop. I also need everyone to make sure they can log in AS a STUDENT for Seesaw. The codes I emailed last week are necessary for that. I can reset a WakeID password, and I can resend a Seesaw code if needed. It will be no problem at all. For now, continue reading, practicing multiplication facts, getting onto any web resource you have found that works and is enjoyable, and writing. You do not need to spend hours and hours every day doing "school" work. Please cook and prepare meals with your kids. Spend time together as a family. Build forts. Go on scavenger hunts around the house or in the yard. Create movies. Try fun science experiments. Build something from recyclables. Tell scary stories in the dark with a flashlight. Be creative. I'd love to know what you're doing! If you have any questions, please email me or message me on Seesaw. I will try to respond as quickly as possible. I know that you are trying to get schedules going and balance working from home, too. It's a lot. Take care of yourself and your family. We will get through this difficult time! Thank you so much for all you are doing every day. Love, Mrs. Farrell
