A huge thank you to our parents who have volunteered! We now have a PTA Liaison, a Character Ed parent, and some volunteers who will be coming in our classroom! Thank you so very much! I might just tootle on you on our classroom Twitter (@MrsFarrell8).
I love working with such great parents of some awesome children! Our classroom family means a lot to me, and I'm glad you're all such a big part! Thanks again, Mrs. Farrell If you need a different time or date, please email me. I cannot do Thursday mornings before school, and I would prefer not to do Friday afternoons.
Thanks so much, Mrs. Farrell Hello and almost welcome back! Track out went by way too quickly, as it usually does, but I am excited to continue learning and growing! We have a lot going on once we come back on Monday, so please let your child know that he/she should come on Monday ready to learn and participate!
We need a parent to be our PTA Liaison Parent. If you are interested, please let me know. This is a position that really needs to be filled. Thank you! Here is the PTA Beginning of Year Newsletter. Please remind your child of classroom expectations and how important it is to truly follow the Penguin Pledge so we can make the most out of the time we have in the classroom. I will spend some time on the first day or two back talking about expectations, but we have a lot to learn and not a lot of time to do it. If you are encouraging positive behaviors and high expectations at home, it would be extremely beneficial to your child because they will find more value in the expectations held in the classroom. We will be learning:
Important Dates:
Update from Ms. V in Social Thinking: In Social Thinking, the kids are working on what is expected and unexpected in group work. In other words, what makes a group work well together and what makes it fall apart. We have been practicing with different activities, watching video clips and even role playing. We'll be working on using our social filter when we are in a group too. That means we all have red thoughts, yellow thoughts and green thoughts. Red thoughts are fine to have, we all have them, but we have to remember not to say them. Yellow thoughts are tricky because you have to say them with caution. Sometimes they are okay to say depending on who you are with and the context of the situation but yellow thoughts can also be inappropriate and maybe it would be best not to say. Green thoughts are helpful, positive, kind, or encouraging. As we work on what it means to work together and collaborate, we'll be practicing using our social filters and figuring out ways to deal with differences of opinions. One of our very own, Siddharth C, will be featured in the Triangle Children's Business Fair! Please go by and see him on August 20th from 10am-1pm. You can read more info about the Fair at the Triangle CBF Website! |
