Parents,
I apologize for not sending home Monday folders today. Honestly cannot think straight because of the air not working today. I will send them home tomorrow. Please have a great afternoon. Also, make sure your child is hydrated. We drank water all day long, but I just want you to be aware that the air was not working and our classroom was very warm most of the day. Thanks for all you do always, Mrs. Farrell

First, thank you SO much to the parents who came to the Open House Thursday night. I hope you found it helpful and informative! I was very excited to meet all of you face to face.
Please fill out the parent information Google form at the top if you have not, and also please sign up for a conference time next week if you have availability. If you do not, I will also have a time for conferences when we start tracking back in. :) Track out day is Friday, July 29th. Track 3 is new to me, so this is super weird! I hope you and your child enjoy the time off from school. The first day back at school will be Monday, August 22nd. If you would like a copy of the 2016-2017 year round calendar, you can find it here. This week we will be focused on routines in the classroom and treating it as a normal school week. When we come back from track out, I hope to spend less time going over procedure and more time learning! We are continuing our unit on geography and history of NC and the early settlers. We will be focusing more on place value, rounding, and adding and subtracting large numbers. We will continue prewriting for our personal narratives, and we will begin drafting those. We are also working on summarizing what we read. Safety Patrol starts this week! Letters were sent home Friday if your child was selected to participate. Wish list is updated! There was a list at open house, but I forgot to mention it *sad face* so if you are able, please pick up one of our items. **We need to select a PTA parent for this year. If you are interested, please let me know. I am told the responsibilities are not very time consuming, and you need to be comfortable with email. Let's have a wonderful week. Parents, thank you for all you do for your child and our class and school. Can you believe the first week of school has already come and gone? I sure can't! We had an awesome week learning expectations, getting to know each other, and beginning our 4th grade curriculum. We will be continuing to work on these things:
Please come to our Open House event this Thursday, July 21st from 5:30-6:30. This is a parent only event so that you can come meet me and hear about the things we will be learning this year. There will be two sessions so that you can meet with more than one teacher if you have multiple children at LPES. I look forward to meeting with all of you! Thanks so much! Mrs. Farrell Wow! Yesterday was a long day that went by quickly- if that makes sense! We learned a lot about what it means to be a fourth grader at LPES and in Mrs. Farrell's Class. The homework for last night was only to read for 20 minutes. Every night's reading homework will be 20 minutes of free choice reading. Your child can read magazines, newspapers, fiction, nonfiction, novels, short stories, plays, whatever they want! I want to instill a love of reading in every child by the end of the year. We will add math homework in today.
I look forward to the rest of this year. You all have some wonderful children! The preparations for the 2016-2017 school year are getting serious! I'm so excited to get started on Monday! Parents, if you would like, you can go ahead and get a head start by filling out the parent info on this Google Form. It would help me so much to already have your contact information. Please feel free to email me with questions or problems. Make sure you regularly check this website for updates and changes.
Thanks for all you do for your children and for our class! |
